How much RAM does Homestead need?
The pack author's server-pack guide asks for at least 8 to 12 GB, and more for groups of 3 to 5 or more. 8 GB is the starting plan; use 12 GB once several players are on together. You can change plans as your world grows.
Which version will we play?
Your server comes with Homestead 2.0 for Minecraft 1.20.1, using Fabric. Everyone joining should install that same Homestead release in their launcher.
Can we update an older Homestead world to 2.0?
Yes, and the world still loads. But 2.0 removes Storage Drawers, Iron Chests: Restocked, Eldritch End, and Copper Age Backport, and anything made from them is deleted when the world opens on 2.0. Empty those blocks into Sophisticated Storage, take a backup, then change the pack version.
Do I need to download the Homestead server files?
No. The Modrinth release lists every server-side mod, including Sophisticated Storage, so berrybyte installs them directly. You don't need the separate server pack from Cozy Studios. We install everything the server needs after checkout, so there is nothing to upload.
Can Bedrock players join a Homestead server?
No. Homestead is a Java Edition modpack. Every player needs Minecraft: Java Edition on a computer, with the same pack installed. Bedrock, console, and phone players can’t join.
Can you move our existing world?
Yes. Send us a backup and tell us which pack version you’re playing. We’ll help move your world and settings and check that the server starts. Keep your original backup until you’ve joined successfully. We can’t repair corrupted saves or develop custom mods.
