Enshrouded 1.0 leaves Early Access on Thursday, October 15, 2026. Keen confirmed the Steam release in its release announcement.
If your group is coming back, sort out the world and server before launch night. Here's what's coming, how to prepare an existing save, and what to check before everyone joins.

The platform dates come from Keen's launch press release. The server steps below cover Steam PC groups. A console release date doesn't establish PC crossplay or console access to these servers; ask support about console-specific hosting before choosing a server for a PS5 group.
What's coming in 1.0
Keen's September combat preview announces:
- Nine new spells, including crowd control, area damage, and summons.
- Wand heavy attacks and new skills for mages and archers.
- Upgradeable Eternal spells and arrows.
- A player level cap of 50 and equipment up to level 55.
One change matters before your first adventure: the skill tree will reset. Returning players should spend their refunded points before leaving the base. These are preview details; read the final patch notes when 1.0 ships.
Keep your world or start fresh?
Make this a group decision. Leaving Early Access isn't, by itself, a reason to delete your save.
- Continue your world if your group wants to keep its bases and progress. Preserve the original save and check the final 1.0 compatibility notes before opening it on the new build.
- Start fresh if you're bringing in new players or want to progress together from the beginning. Archive the old world first.
Characters and worlds are separate. Keen's game FAQ explains that characters can move between servers with their equipment and levels, while unlocked NPCs and much of the crafting progression belong to the world. For a fresh playthrough, agree whether everyone will also create a new character.
Move a friend-hosted world to a dedicated server
A dedicated server lets friends play while the person who originally hosted the world is offline. You can also move a compatible world from another hosting provider.
Stop the source game or server before copying. Keep all files belonging
to the chosen world together, including its numbered saves, -index
file, and metadata. Keen's
save-management guide
lists the world identifiers and local and Steam Cloud locations.
Follow our world migration guide to upload the set into the server's save folder. Keep the source untouched, then join and check a familiar base and Flame Altar. Each player's character save stays on their own computer.
Move and verify the world before the major update, where possible. Doing those separately makes a missing save easier to diagnose. On berrybyte, our team can help with migration for free.
Your pre-launch server checklist
1. Back up the world and settings
Ask everyone to leave, stop the server cleanly, and back up the world files
and enshrouded_server.json. On berrybyte, open Backups → Create Backup,
wait for completion, and download a copy to your computer.
Name it something easy to recognize, such as Before Enshrouded 1.0.
Our backup guide covers restoring and downloading.
2. Check access and difficulty
Confirm the server name, player limit, and difficulty with your group. Keep the Admin password private and give friends their own role password. Our settings guide explains the available permissions and difficulty presets.
3. Check capacity during a real session
Player slots limit how many people can join; they don't guarantee performance. Watch memory and CPU while your group explores and visits large bases. Leave room for updates and growing saves.
Use the server requirements guide and ask support about sizing if usage stays near your plan's allowance. Recheck after 1.0, since the new build may change resource use.
4. Share the address and a play time
Choose a first session with time for downloads and a test join. Share Overview → Server address, including the port, and the appropriate role password. The joining guide shows friends how to connect.
Update and test on October 15
Once the dedicated-server update is available:
- Read Keen's final notes for save compatibility and settings changes.
- Stop the server and take one final backup.
- On berrybyte, enable Auto Update in Settings → Game Settings, then start the server.
- Watch Console until
HostOnlineappears. - Update one player's game through Steam and join. Check the expected world, inventories, and building permissions, then restart once to check that progress persists.
- Invite everyone and remind returning players to reassign their skills.
Our update guide has the full process. If a fresh world appears unexpectedly, or the save won't load, stop and keep the Console log. Contact support before replacing files. A world backup alone doesn't roll back the installed server version.
