Hytale server setup and management guides

Set up a Hytale dedicated server, finish Hytale Link, and join with Direct Connect using host:port — dedicated servers do not issue friend share codes. Then configure config.json, install mods, grant admins, run commands, enable a whitelist, or list the server on Discovery.

Hytale on berrybyte is a dedicated server you control from the dashboard. Start it, finish Hytale Link, then share the allocated host:port — not a friend share code. The pages below cover first boot, settings, mods, and who can join.

Frequently asked questions

Does a Hytale dedicated server give me a share code?

No. Dedicated servers are joined from Servers → Direct Connect with the allocated host:port. Expiring share codes are only for friend-hosted worlds opened through Join via Code, and they are a different flow.

Do I have to authenticate a Hytale dedicated server?

Yes, before players can join. The server can start without tokens and then warn that none are configured. On berrybyte, click Authenticate so the panel runs /auth login device, then approve the case-sensitive console code. This is not silent automatic authentication, and it is not the same as listing the server on Server Discovery.

How much RAM does a Hytale dedicated server need?

Hypixel's official floor is 4 GB of RAM, plus Java 25 on a 64-bit CPU. Practical need grows with loaded world area, view distance, and how independently players explore. Use berrybyte's Hytale server requirements calculator for a plan estimate; those extra formulas are empirical, not official.

Does Update 6 already apply to my Hytale server?

Usually yes. berrybyte defaults to the release patchline, which includes Update 6 after a restart with Auto Update on. Check Game Settings → Patchline if a feature looks missing — an older build still uses the Update 5 whitelist file and will not have the client Mod Browser.
