How to host a Better MC server
Order Better MC from berrybyte, start at 8 GB RAM, wait for the first boot, then join with the same pack installed in your Minecraft launcher.
Use the Better MC hosting page. The pack is already selected. Pick a plan (start at 8 GB), check out, then wait for the server to finish starting before anyone joins.
This is Better MC [FORGE] BMC4, not the Fabric edition. If the name in checkout says Better MC, you have the right pack.
Create the server
Open the Better MC page
Go to Better MC server hosting. The pack should already be selected.
Pick a plan and location
Start with 8 GB unless you already know you need more. Choose the region closest to your players.
Check out
Keep Better MC selected, sign in, and pay. berrybyte installs the current version of the pack for you.
Wait until it is ready
Open Console in the dashboard. First boot can take several minutes. Wait until startup finishes before anyone tries to join.
Want a different pack instead? Browse them on the modpack hosting page.
Install the pack on your computer
Everyone who wants to play needs Better MC [FORGE] BMC4 in a launcher that can install Modrinth packs, such as the Modrinth App or CurseForge app.
Install Better MC
Search for Better MC [FORGE] BMC4, not the Fabric edition, and install it.
Match the server version
Use the same pack version the server is running. If you are not sure, check the pack shown on the server in the dashboard.
Launch that profile
Start Minecraft from the Better MC profile and let it finish loading before you open Multiplayer.
If someone is on a different pack version than the server, they usually cannot join. Update the server and every player's launcher together.
Join
When Console shows the server is up, open Overview, copy Server address, and paste it into Multiplayer → Add Server. Include the port.

How much RAM
8 GB is a good start for a small group. If the server lags, crashes, or runs out of memory after people start exploring, bump the plan. There is no fixed player count that always works, because world size and automation matter more than how many names are in the tab list.
Updating the pack
Back up first
Open Backups and create a backup before you change the pack version.
Stop the server
Press Stop, then open Overview → Modpack → Change and pick the version you want.
Update every player
Have everyone switch their launcher profile to that same version, then Start the server and wait for Console to finish.
See Backups & restores if you need to roll back.
If something goes wrong
It is still installing. Watch Console. Big packs take a few minutes the first time. If it stops with an error, open Logs → Crashes instead of mashing Start.
Players cannot join. Confirm they installed Better MC [FORGE] BMC4, not the Fabric edition, and that the version matches the server. Copy Overview → Server address again, including the port.
It ran out of memory. Upgrade past 8 GB, then try again.
Still stuck? Open a support ticket and attach the crash log.
