How to host a DawnCraft server

Create a DawnCraft server with the correct Forge release, join from a matching profile, update with backups, and fix Java, datapack, quest, and memory failures.

Use the DawnCraft server hosting page. It opens with DawnCraft, Forge, and the recommended starting plan selected.

Do not remove Dawncraft_Resources or Dawncraft_Datapack. The pack authors warn that both are required and removing them causes bugs.

Create the DawnCraft server

Open the DawnCraft page

Go to DawnCraft server hosting. Confirm the pack and version shown in the server details are selected.

Choose the verified starting RAM

Use the starting value shown in the shared facts, then pick a location close to the group.

Finish checkout

Keep DawnCraft attached. berrybyte selects Forge and a compatible Java runtime.

Wait for the first world

Watch Console until startup completes. Quest and structure data make the first boot slower than vanilla.

Install DawnCraft on every client

Install the full pack

Choose DawnCraft - Echoes of Legends in CurseForge or another compatible launcher.

Match the hotfix release

Use the exact _hf release shown on the server. Do not substitute the Lite profile or another 2.0 build.

Launch before joining

Wait until Minecraft reaches the menu, then open Multiplayer.

Join

Copy Overview → Server address and add it from the matching DawnCraft profile. Include the port. If the connection fails after the address resolves, compare the exact client pack release before changing firewall settings.

Update without breaking quests

Create a backup

Back up the world, quest progress, required datapacks, and configs.

Stop the server

Wait for the final world save.

Change the complete pack

Use Overview → Modpack → Change. Keep the Resources and Datapack folders supplied by the new release.

Update every player

Move all launchers to the exact same hotfix release before restarting.

Fix common DawnCraft server problems

Startup uses the wrong Java version. DawnCraft's own page calls for Java 17 or 18. Remove a Java 8, 21, or 22 override and let berrybyte select the runtime.

Quests or NPCs behave incorrectly after a manual edit. Restore Dawncraft_Resources and Dawncraft_Datapack from the complete pack release. Do not copy a few missing files from another version.

A villager reward trips the watchdog. Public issue reports have tied old quest turn-ins to long ticks. Save the crash log and restore before trying a community workaround; changing Quest Giver versions can create a new mismatch.

The server reaches its memory limit. Move from the starting plan toward the extra RAM option shown above, especially with several explorers.

Still stuck? Open a support ticket with the crash report, latest.log, and the exact DawnCraft release.
