How to set up a Palworld dedicated server
A Palworld dedicated server needs SteamCMD app ID 2394010, 4 CPU cores, and 8GB RAM minimum, whether you run it yourself or through a host. On berrybyte, checkout builds and boots it for you within a few minutes.
A Palworld dedicated server runs on Steam app ID 2394010, downloaded
through SteamCMD, and needs at least 4 CPU cores and 8GB of RAM. That's true
whether you install it yourself on a spare PC or a rented box, or let a host
run it for you. On berrybyte, checkout handles the install and boot for you:
pick a plan, pay, and the dashboard hands you a join address within a few
minutes.
Order your server
Checkout follows berrybyte's standard flow: choose a plan and region, sign in, and pay. The full walkthrough, including payment methods and billing cycles, lives in Create your first server, so this page only covers what's specific to Palworld.
Choose a Palworld plan
Open the Palworld hosting page on berrybyte.net and pick a plan sized for your expected player count. Larger plans handle more concurrent players and larger bases without lag.
Pick a region
Choose the location closest to where most of your players live. This keeps ping low for the majority of the group.
Sign in and pay
Continue with Google, Discord, or email, then pay through Stripe with a card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, or PayPal.
Wait for setup to finish
Checkout sends you to the dashboard, where a Setting up card tracks progress and opens the server automatically when it's ready. This normally takes a few minutes.

If Setting up hasn't progressed after 10 minutes, open Support in the dashboard and press Open a Ticket, or use View support ticket if the card already linked one. See Getting support.
System requirements
Palworld is demanding on RAM once a server fills up with players and bases. These are the specs berrybyte recommends for a smooth server:
| Resource | Amount |
|---|---|
| CPU | 4 vCores |
| RAM | 8GB minimum, 16 to 32GB recommended for a full server |
| Storage | 30 to 50GB SSD |
berrybyte plans already meet these minimums for their advertised player counts. If your server lags with a full base count, check whether a bigger plan fits your population better.
Self-host a Palworld dedicated server
Running your own Palworld server means installing the dedicated server files with SteamCMD, starting the binary directly, and forwarding the right ports yourself. Here's the same requirements table for a self-managed box:
| Resource | Amount |
|---|---|
| CPU | 4 cores minimum |
| RAM | 8GB minimum, 16 to 32GB recommended for a full server |
| Storage | 30 to 50GB SSD |
Install SteamCMD
Download SteamCMD and extract it to a folder on the machine that will run the server.
Download the dedicated server files
Run SteamCMD with app ID 2394010, Palworld's dedicated server app. This logs in
anonymously (no Steam account needed) and installs the files into the folder you point it
at.
./steamcmd.sh +force_install_dir ./palworld_server +login anonymous +app_update 2394010 validate +quitsteamcmd.exe +force_install_dir C:\palworld_server +login anonymous +app_update 2394010 validate +quitStart the server
Launch the server binary from inside the install folder.
./StartServer.shStartServer.batForward your ports
Forward UDP port 8211 (the game port) and 27015 (the Steam query port) on your router or firewall. Without this, no one outside your local network can connect.
Dedicated servers don't appear in Palworld's public server browser, self-hosted or otherwise. Share the machine's public IP address and port 8211 directly with players. See How to join a Palworld server.

Frequently asked questions
How long does it take to set up a Palworld server?
Most Palworld servers finish setting up within a few minutes of checkout. The dashboard's Setting up card tracks progress and opens the server automatically once it is ready.
How much RAM does a Palworld server need?
8GB is the minimum, but Pocketpair recommends 16 to 32GB for a full server with a large base count. Pick a plan sized for the population you expect, and upgrade later if the server struggles.
Can I change my Palworld plan after ordering?
Yes. Upgrades apply immediately and are prorated. Downgrades apply once confirmed, but the server needs to be offline first.
What do I do after my Palworld server is set up?
Join it from Steam using the address in the dashboard, then head to Settings → Game Settings if you want to adjust rates, difficulty, or other options before inviting players.
How do I set up a Palworld dedicated server myself?
Install SteamCMD, run app_update 2394010 to download the dedicated server files, then launch StartServer.sh or StartServer.bat and forward UDP port 8211 plus the 27015 query port. See the self-hosting section on this page for exact commands.
